Wenig Custom Gunstocks offers various types of fine woods, including American walnut, Claro walnut, English walnut, Turkish walnut, Maple, and even Laminated Birch. Wenig's has different grades of each of these woods, as well as 10 different colors of the increasingly popular Laminated Birch. Machine inletted stocks and forearms are the first step in the gunstock process. Wenig Custom Gunstocks has a long list of patterns to work with. When a customer asks for a machine inletted stock/forearm, we simply duplicate the pattern the customer wants on one of our carving machines. The machine inletted stock still requires some fitting to your gun, along with the usual sanding and finishing. Many times, a customer will want an existing stock/forearm duplicated. This is not a problem; you can simply mail your stock/forearm to us, and we can use it as a pattern. Also, some people already have a stock/forearm blank of wood that only needs to machine inletted. Wenig Custom Gunstocks is happy to machine your wood. If you have had any experience working with your hands, you could inlet a Wenig machine inletted stock/forearm. (By the way, a little patience is also required to complete this task!)
Some people do not like to inlet the stocks, but they do like to finish the stocks themselves. For these people, Wenig's offers the hand fitted stock/forearm, which are machine inletted to your specifications and then fitted to your gun by one of our master stock makers. This option allows you to fit the stock to you, in that the stock is not yet sanded or finished, thus enabling you to file here and there to get the perfect fit. We fit the stock to the gun; you fit the stock to you.
Needless to say, this is the category in which Wenig's machines, hand-fits, hand-checkers, and then finishes your new stock and forearm. Many times our customers like for us to "fit" them to the gun. This is the ultimate gunstock experience. After calling for an appointment with master stock maker Elbert Smith, Wenig's will set aside an entire day to work with you. When you arrive at our shop, we will begin fitting you to your gun by making a pattern that will get you shooting where you need to be! You can then choose your favorite piece of wood from our wide selection of blanks. We can then machine your wood, fit the wood to your gun, and "final-fit" the gun to you that same day. We have worked with many champion skeet and sporting clays shooters, as well as Olympic trap shooters; now we're ready for you!
Wenig's offers several shooting accessories and other helpful items for your new Wenig Custom Gunstock. We sell Counter Coil systems, Pachmayr, Kick-Eez, and Terminator recoil pads to cushion the recoil. Wenig adjustable recoil pads and adjustable combs (excellent for the young & growing shooters) will help you stay consistent in your shooting. Our newest product is laminated birch blanks, left square for you to make your own gunstock, turkey call, hammer handle, or other novelty. Finally, we also sell grip caps and inletting black for those who desire to inlet their new stock themselves.
